UANI Unveils “Mobile” Ahmadinejad Billboard, Moving Through Manhattan This Week

New York, NY - Today, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) announced the launch of a mobile billboard coinciding with Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York this week. The billboard reads “AS WE REMEMBER 9/11 TEN YEARS LATER, AL QAEDA’S SILENT PARTNER IS COMING TO NEW YORK: TAKE ACTION AT UANI.COM”

The
mobile billboard is attached to the bed of a truck, and will be driven through Midtown Manhattan all this week between 42nd and 50th streets, near the United Nations. It will make stops at Iran’s UN Mission, and also at the Warwick hotel, which has irresponsibly decided to host Ahmadinejad and his delegation.

Said UANI Executive Director, David Ibsen:

Ahmadinejad is not welcome here. His visit to Manhattan is offensive given Iran’s heinous track record and its alliance with al-Qaeda. UANI’s supporters are loudly speaking out against Ahmadinejad, and also against the Warwick hotel for its indefensible decision to accommodate him.

The mobile billboard, like a similar one in Times Square, highlights Iran’s partnership with al Qaeda, which the U.S. Treasury Department detailed earlier this year. According to Treasury, Iran is allied with al-Qaeda, and is allowing al-Qaeda to use Iran as a place to transfer money, weapons, and fighters to bases in Pakistan and Afghanistan. This evidence follows recent reports that al-Qaeda operatives such as Saif al-Adel, the organization’s chief military strategist, have been operating out of Iran with impunity.

UANI is also calling on its supporters to contact the Warwick New York Hotel
concerning its decision to host Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. UANI members are encouraged to call the Warwick at (212) 247-2700, or write them through www.UANI.com, and make their voices heard. UANI is also leading a boycott of all Warwick International Hotels worldwide, including their U.S. hotels in Denver, Seattle, Dallas and San Francisco.
