UANI Applauds The Omni Berkshire Hotel for Closing Its Doors to President Ahmadinejad

New York, NY -  United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) applauds the Omni Berkshire Hotel for closing its doors to President Ahmadinejad.  UANI, on Tuesday, wrote to all New York City Hotels, calling upon them to refuse to host President Ahmadinejad during his visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly Meeting.  On Wednesday, Peter Strebel, the General Manager of the Omni Berkshire Hotel responded to UANI's request, and confirmed that the Omni Berkshire Hotel would refuse to host President Ahmadinejad.

Responding to the decision of the Omni Berkshire Hotel, UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, said:

UANI applauds the Omni Berkshire Hotel for taking a stand and closing its doors to President Ahmadinejad during this year's meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. The Omni Berkshire Hotel has made a decision to align itself with the international community to isolate Iran.  No American-based venue should host this outlaw regime.  We call on all New York-area venues to follow the example of the Omni Berkshire and help isolate and condemn the Iranian regime by refusing to host President Ahmadinejad and his cohorts.

UANI, in September 2009, called on all New York City hotels to refuse to host President Ahmadinejad and the Iranian delegation.  As a result President Ahmadinejad was confined to the one venue that agreed to host him.
