UANI Announces Protest Against President Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Delegation

New York, NY -  United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) today announced a protest against President Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Delegation to be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm.  The event will be held outside of the Hilton Manhattan East Hotel on the corner of 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue, and will take place during President Ahmadinejad's speech on the floor of the United Nations.

WHAT:         Protest Against President Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Delegation
WHERE:       Hilton Manhattan East Hotel, Corner of 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue
DATE:           Thursday, September 23, 2010
TIME:           2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Regarding the protest, UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, said:

President Ahmadinejad and his regime are the world's leading state sponsors of terrorism; they defy international law in developing a nuclear weapon and brutally repress their own people. During this year's annual meeting of the UN General Assembly, UANI will join with its supporters to protest President Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Delegation.  The international community should use this meeting of the UNGA to recommit its efforts to pressuring Iran to end its nuclear weapons program and comply with the IAEA.

UANI last week launched an ad campaign that seeks to raise awareness of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran.  The campaign includes kiosks and buses in Manhattan as well as a billboard in Manhattan. In September 2009, UANI called on all New York City hotels to refuse to host President Ahmadinejad and the Iranian delegation.  As a result President Ahmadinejad was limited to the one venue that agreed to host him.
