Statement by UANI
President,
Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, on Seized CMA CGM Vessel
New
York, New York
- United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)
today condemned French
shipping giant CMA CGM for its reported involvement in another
illegal Iranian arms shipment.
Today’s
seizure of a CMA CGM ship, which Israel says contained weapons headed
from Iran
to terrorist groups in Gaza, shows exactly why CMA CGM should end its
business
in Iran immediately. This incident follows two other recent seizures of
CMA CGM
vessels headed to or from Iran in apparent violation of UN Security
Council
Resolutions. CMA CGM’s dealings in Iran are clearly helping prop up the
regime’s dictatorship and arming terrorists worldwide, and they should
end now.
Earlier today, Israeli
forces seized the CMA CGM-charted Victoria
vessel in the Mediterranean Sea and discovered a cache of weapons
allegedly
destined for Hamas in Gaza Strip.
On
March 9, United Against Nuclear
Iran first
called on CMA CGM,
the world’s third-largest container
shipping company, to end its business in Iran.
