Persistent Anti-Israel And Anti-Semitic Ideology Isolating Iranian Regime

(New York, N.Y.) – For more than 40 years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made anti-Israel and anti-Semitic ideology central to its mission. In recent years, outright Holocaust denial has been deemed acceptable among regime leaders even as they threaten Israel with destruction. Today, as the international community marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, it is worth recalling that just in October Iran’s supreme leader used Twitter to ask “why is it a crime to raise doubts about the Holocaust?”

The Islamic Republic’s fixation on Israel and global Jewish communities culminates in its annual commemoration of Quds Day (“Jerusalem Day”). Held on the last Friday of Ramadan, Quds Day is an annual day of protest organized by the Iranian government against Israel. While nominally about Jerusalem, the Quds Day rally serves as a forum for regime figures to call for hostilities against Israel and the liberation of Palestine, envisaging the inevitable elimination of the “Zionist regime.” During the last Quds Day, the Office of the Supreme Leader released a poster with the words “final solution” to describe the Israeli-Palestinian conflict—a term routinely used in conjunction with Nazi Germany’s slaughtering of Jews during World War II.

United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)’s resource, Iran’s Anti-Israel Ideology, provides an overview of the Iranian regime’s formalized celebration of anti-Israel ideology. This resource provides information about the history of Quds Day and the ways in which the regime promotes anti-Semitism.
